Textschleuse
Use AI without giving away names and bank details. Two shortcuts – and nothing leaves your Mac.
free · open source · macOS 14+ · Apple Silicon · all versions
Plain text left, placeholders right.
Type into the left box. The demo runs entirely in your browser and is heavily simplified – the app detects much more and asks when it is guessing. Detection is built for German texts.
Copy, shortcut, paste.
- Copy your text and press ⌃⌥⌘S. A popup shows every match: green is certain, red is a guess.
- Confirm guesses with 1–8; ⌘⏎ puts the protected text on the clipboard.
- Paste it into the AI tool. Copy the answer, press ⌃⌥⌘R – the real names are back.
Rules you can read.
Not a model that silently misses names – but rules you can follow. Whatever the app misses, you see in the popup and mark yourself.
Detects on its own
Email, IBAN, BIC, card numbers with checksum, phone numbers, birth dates, tax IDs. Optional: websites, addresses, file numbers.
Guesses generously
First names from an open name list, the surname after them, companies by their legal form. Unconfirmed guesses are still replaced – plain text never slips through.
Learns spellings
“Thorben Nyström”, “Herr Nyström” and “T. N.” belong together. The way back restores every spelling.
Seeded aliases
The ID is derived via HMAC from a secret seed and the name. Without the seed it looks random; with it, it can be shared.
Stays on your Mac
No network connection. The dictionary is stored AES-GCM-encrypted on disk, the key lives in the Keychain.
Two ways
Shortcuts for anyone in a hurry. A window with a toggle, history and dictionary for anyone who prefers clicking.
Good to know.
Does anything go online?
No. The app has no network connection. The only thing that reaches the AI tool is what you paste – and that is the protected text.
What if the app misses a name?
Select it in the popup and press a number. From then on the dictionary knows it.
Does the AI understand the placeholders?
A note above the protected text asks the model to keep placeholders unchanged. If it reformats them anyway, the way back recognises the common variants.
What is the seed?
A secret in the dictionary. Anyone with the same seed gets the same alias for the same name – so colleagues can restore each other’s texts. Treat it like a password.
Why does macOS block the first launch?
The app is not notarised by Apple. Once: right-click the app → “Open” → “Open” again. After that it starts normally.
